The Trouvaille Workshop, Holly Springs {Day Two}

Welcome to our second Trouvaille Workshop recap! You can catch our first recap over here to catch up!

TrouvailleWorkshopDayTwo1

Day two of our experience started off bright and early at the Mims House and we had the pleasure of having Olivia of Nancy Ray Photography join us for the morning. Each person was greeted with another custom gift from Marigold & Grey and I think it was my favorite of the week! Since Tuesday was our floral design day I wanted the gifts to be not only beautiful but practical too. Wooden handle clippers, a floral frog, and hand died silk from Tono & Co were all included in each gift for use that afternoon. A gray tea towel and lavender satchel (plus a beautiful seating card denoting breakfast seating assignments) rounded out each gift.

But first it was time to devour the most delicious and beautiful two course meal from Belle’s.

TrouvailleWorkshopDayTwo5

Our first session was with the beautiful Emily and Lisa of Southern Weddings. They joined us for an hour discussion on submission protocols, editorial questions, and more on the SW brand and mission. Southern Weddings is one of my personal favorites so it was a treat to have them share so openly about their magazine.

But then. It was time to dive into all of THIS. If only you could smell this picture!

Our bloom room (as we lovingly called it) was absolutely full of some pretty spectacular flowers. Each attendee would be making their own bouquet and compote that day after a demonstration from myself and Steve of Sinclair and Moore. Steve and I have similar aesthetic values but very much our own sense of style so I loved having him by my side again to share his unique techniques. Once my demonstration was complete, the attendees were free to go flower shopping and pick out their own product to use in their creations. It’s always so much fun watching everyone select their favorite textures and colors.

Hi Leigh and Brandy!

Hi Mallory! I love this action shot of an attendee styling her placesetting for portfolio photos.

Lunch was again back outside and it was hands down the best meal of the week. Belle’s! We love you.

TrouvailleWorkshopDayTwo11

In lieu of centerpieces for lunch we actually let the food steal the show!

Served on wood platters, tray pedestals, and in wood bowls with metallic handles, the family style lunch of salads and flatbreads was truly divine. I wish I could have this lunch prepared for me every day! Paired together with that beautiful linen choice from Nuage Designs and the stunning paper from Moya of MM Ink, it was a really wonderful hour full of conversation and good food out under the portico.

TrouvailleWorkshopDayTwo12

And surprise! Mama Bird’s Ice Cream did NOT disappoint for an afternoon surprise treat.

Meanwhile we had Sam Ray of Lula Hair + Make Up upstairs working her magic on our two beautiful models.

Nancy came back for the afternoon and we had the entire rest of the day to work on getting each attendee a selection of beautiful photos to use in their portfolio. With two gorgeous models to choose from (Hi Hannah and Kevie!), three gowns from the amazing Ivory and Beau, accessories galore from Gemma Jewel Shop, the backdrop of the Mim’s House, silk runners from Tono & Co, and of COURSE the incredible creations all of the attendees made; well, it made for a pretty spectacular day full of pretty! I mean just LOOK!

TrouvailleWorkshopDayTwo19

I’m seriously blown away by the talented of our students.

TrouvailleWorkshopDayTwo18

And of course our models who made everything look so flawless!

It was a perfect day that ended on a perfect note with a pool side chat led by Melissa Jones of Creative Chics (which I hear was pretty wonderful!) Tomorrow, I will be sharing more on day three which included many educational sessions from our special speakers, lots of sugar, and our intimate farewell dinner.

Be sure to check back, and as always below is a list of our sponsors and suppliers from day two! Xoxo
