Masculine Elegance

Earlier this summer I started sensing a strong and deep desire to help pioneer a shift in our industry.

As a planner it’s my duty to take my client’s wishes and bring them together in a tangible end result. But as a designer, I feel my role goes far beyond just taking inspiration and bringing it to reality. As a designer I have to think ten steps ahead and do my best to bring timeless ideas together with innovative touches. The wedding industry is so very saturated and sometimes coming up with unique ideas can feel impossible.

After a few phone calls with the editors at Style Me Pretty, and them patiently listening to my ideas, we decided an editorial project would do just a tiny bit to help shift focus away from overdone trends and instead in the direction of fresh new ones. Using a color palette of neutrals like black, gray and white but a strong variety of textures like velvet, acrylic, and cement, the foundation of this shoot was to bring masculine elegance to life. The masculine details not only looked streamlined and bold but helped give context to the groom side of things, which after all, there usually is a groom at a wedding so those masculine details should rightfully so be included. The feminine details only helped soften the look and allow the project as a whole to appeal to the eye.
