An Egypt Valley Country Club Wedding for Emily & Zach

One of our most anticipated weddings of the 2024 summer season was the celebration of Emily and Zach.

From the moment our partnership began the design process was smooth sailing and according to plan. From a clear design vision that delighted the clients the moment is was presented, an established team of professionals contributing to the cause, and best of all, trusting and decisive clients, preparations for this event were done well in advance of the early August date.

But then one Friday afternoon in late June a main water pipe burst at the country club causing not only severe flooding throughout the upper level of the space and throughout the catering kitchen, but an entire ceiling collapse in the club’s main reception space. I posted more about the incident where you can see a video our client took of the catastrophe just minutes after it happened. Without the video I’m not sure this story would hold such clout.

While there were thankfully no injuries from the collapse the water damage was undeniably disastrous and the destruction made the space completely unusable. Reno crews determined that even with an expedited rebuild process the space would not be usable until August 8th; just 2 days before the scheduled wedding celebration. So Adrien from RSVP Events, Colleen from the country club, and myself came together immediately with the clients to come up with a bevy of new pivots and plans to adjust to this unexpected turn or events.

As you can imagine, there was an army of professionals who worked around the clock to rebuild this space. There were people who explored back-up venues, planned secondary back-up timelines, reworked designs to different floorplans, rental proposals, and spaces, and helped keep the client calm, collected, and reassured. Just about every single professional involved in the wedding was notified of the incident and informed of two very different wedding day scenarios based on how the construction process would unfold. And of course the clients! They remained calm and in good faith, trusting our every suggestion and reassurance. Anyone involved in this planning and execution of this wedding could probably give an Oscar-worthy speech of gratitude for the display of togetherness this turn of events brought.

Thankfully, August 8th came and with it was the completion of the renovation. And so Emily and Zach were married just two days later on August 10th exactly like they had planned for, celebrating in the same place Emily’s mom and dad did when they wed 29 years prior. Magic moments were woven into every part of the design and floral, and you’ll see what I mean in the images below from Abby Fox. Celebrations like this are the very heartbeat of the work we do and it was a tremendous honor to be a part of this one.

Cheers to a lifetime of joy and love, Em and Zach! And to your families, thank you for allowing us into your lives during what ended up being an unexpected rollercoaster of a ride. We’ll forever hold a space for you in our memories and hearts.
